The Rotary Group Study Exchange program was institutionalised in January 1964, when the Rotary International Board of Directors and The Rotary Foundation Board of Trustees approved Group Study Exchange as an official Rotary program.

In the nearly five decades since, more than 50,000 young men and women have travelled the globe as part of Group Study Exchange (GSE) teams. This program is now referred to as Vocational Training Team (VTT).

Vocational Training Team (VTT) is an educational program of The Rotary Foundation wherein Rotary districts in different countries are paired to send and receive professional study groups of non-Rotarian team members and one Rotarian team leader to travel for four weeks, staying in the homes of Rotarians when possible.
